Rafique Foundation for Education and Healthcare USA
Who We Are
Rafique Foundation for Education and Healthcare USA is a family-funded, US-based non-profit organization established by Barrister G.R. Mahmood and his family. The foundation’s Bangladesh chapter is dedicated to transforming lives through free, high-quality education and healthcare for underprivileged communities, especially girls.
With a deep commitment to service and equity, the foundation runs Dr. Rafique Jahan Mahmood Girls High School and Barrister G.R. Mahmood Elementary School in Ratna Palong, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. These institutions operate under the belief that education is a fundamental right—not a privilege—and strive to unlock potential, foster empowerment, and build resilient futures for children in one of Bangladesh’s most underserved areas.

Impact Stories
Sabina’s Journey to Hope
Sabina, a bright young girl from a low-income family in Ratna Palong, had never stepped inside a classroom before joining Dr. Rafique Jahan Mahmood Girls High School. With no prior schooling, she began in Grade 1 at age 10. Within two years, she not only caught up to her peers but excelled academically, earning top marks in her class. Today, she dreams of becoming a teacher to uplift others like her.
Breaking Barriers: Fatema’s Story
Fatema’s parents were hesitant about educating their daughter due to traditional norms and financial hardship. The school’s inclusive, free-of-cost model changed their minds. Fatema is now a proud 8th grader and the first girl in her family to attend school. Her success has inspired her neighbors to send their daughters to school as well.
A Whole Community Transformed
The presence of the Rafique Foundation’s schools has shifted the educational culture of Moddo Ratna Palong. Where once girls stayed home, now classrooms are filled with eager learners. Parents take pride in their children’s achievements, and local leaders have recognized the schools as a beacon of progress and opportunity.
